There is nothing worse.
And then you go all red and maybe some swelling and inflammation happen.
And in my case when I was modeling back in my 20’s and suppose to be shooting a “cover” of a magazine, I actually started to struggle to breathe.
I have since heard this makeup and skincare company had many complaints about women having a reaction to their products and learned about the harness of their choice of ingredients.
Thank goodness companies are starting to wake up about their ingredients and the chemical cocktail effect on our immune system.
You see once the skin gets a whiff of any substance that is suspicious, it will then trigger a reaction. A reaction we call “contact dermatitis” and the body or area of the irritant will be attacked by our immune system.
So if you are prone to sensitive skin it may be wise to ask before you buy your skin care if you can return it if you are allergic reaction to it. Generally the retailer will agree, as they can send back the product to the distributer or producer.
A massive reaction to a product will in fact cause “hives” a type of skin inflammation that looks like raised bumps or welts all over the skin, with can last up to 24hours. Its the body releasing “histamine” and histamine causes a fluid to leak from local blood vessels - which leads to swelling in the skin.
Top scorers are:
Products with “fragrance” mixers
“Slime” - that kids play with.
And of course Nickel, ( Nickel Sulphate) - Sometimes in summer when I’m a bit hot, the studs on my jeans make me itchy and I defiantly can’t wear nickel earrings 2 days in a row…
And the biggest ingredient causing this issue is…….. drum roll ……….
"fragrance mix’s” of course!!!
Loaded with hidden ingredients - And may include any number of the industry's 3,100 stock chemicals (IFRA 2010), none of which is required to be listed on labels.
But who doesn’t like to smell good or while they are applying their favourite styling product get a whiff of that most beautiful scent that makes you feel amazing????
So, moral of the story - buy from products companies that are trustworthy.
That care about toxicity levels and constantly test and up grade the quality of their ingredients and state what their fragrance is made up of.
That’s why Products with Purpose is here, to support companies doing the right thing by you, the environment and our animals.
